Instead Of Using Imported Vaccines, PKS Party Legislator Asks The Government To Accelerate The Production Of Red And White Vaccines For Boosters

JAKARTA - The distribution of booster vaccines to the public will be carried out in the near future. The government is advised not to waste the budget by bringing in imported vaccines, but to optimize domestic vaccines more.

Member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the PKS Party faction, Kurniasih Mufidayati, asked the government to optimize and develop vaccines in the country. This is to continue the development of the Merah Putih vaccine as a booster vaccine so that it can be produced immediately.

It is known, currently the development of the new Red and White vaccine is heading for phase 1 clinical trials in early February 2022.

"So the timeline for the production of the Red and White vaccine as a booster must be accelerated. There needs to be an intervention to accelerate the production of the Red and White vaccine so that it does not depend on imported booster vaccines," Mufida told reporters, Thursday, January 6.

Moreover, she continued, the Institute for Molecular Biology (LBM) Eijkman was merged into the National Research and Innovation Agency.

"It is feared that the production of the Red and White vaccine will delay further," said Mufida. In addition, the legislator for the DKI Jakarta electoral district also requested that the national vaccination data be accurate.

"Learning from the problem of vaccine jockeys, inaccurate data on vaccination coverage between regions and giving booster vaccines to people who are not a priority, this must be corrected and not happen again," said Mufida.
