Still Being Hit By The COVID-19, Liverpool Asks Arsenal To Postpone The League Cup Match

JAKARTA - Liverpool asked the English Football League (EFL) to reschedule the first leg of their League Cup semi-final against Arsenal on Thursday. The reason is that the number of COVID-19 cases at the club nicknamed the Reds is increasing.

Quoted from Antara, Wednesday, Liverpool even canceled the first team training session which took place on Tuesday.

"The Reds have formally requested the EFL to reschedule the match after further suspected positive tests were recorded in players and staff, along with other factors that influenced player selection, including illness and injury," Liverpool said.

"Among the considerations driving this request to the EFL is the need for away supporters to be notified as soon as possible of any possible delay."

Manager Jurgen Klopp, along with goalkeeper Alisson Becker, striker Roberto Firmino and defender Joel Matip were ruled out of last weekend's 2-2 draw against Chelsea after testing positive for COVID-19 again.

Virgil van Dijk, Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho and Curtis Jones were also forced into isolation last month.
