JAKARTA - The opening of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) stock trading will take place this morning, Monday, January 3. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will be present at the opening of trade at the IDX Building.

Referring to the invitation to the 2022 stock exchange trading opening to the media, the IDX trading opening ceremony will begin at around 08.35 western Indonesia time. Jokowi will inaugurate the opening of IDX trading at 08.57 western Indonesia time.

Before Jokowi gives a speech, Chairman of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Wimboh Santoso and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto will provide a report.

Furthermore, Jokowi will sign a certificate of the inauguration of the 2022 BEI trading opening at 09.07 western Indonesia time. Jokowi will also give a speech at 09.10 western Indonesia time. In addition, Jokowi will also have a brief dialogue with representatives of capital market associations.

The movement of the Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) is predicted to strengthen in the first trade in 2022 today after closing down 0.29 percent at the level of 6,581.28 at the close of trading in 2021 on Thursday, December 30.

Artha Sekuritas analyst Dennies Christopher Jordan explained that the JCI corrected at the end of last year after concerns over the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the US and Europe were getting worse.

"Investors are also taking profit-taking ahead of the long holiday at the weekend to welcome the new year 2022," said Dennies in his research.

Dennis predicts the JCI will strengthen on Monday. Technically, the candlestick forms a lower high and a lower low with the stochastic indicator forming a dead cross indicating potential weakness.

Investors are still focused on observing the increase in cases of COVID-19 of the Omicron variant, especially in the US and Europe. From within the country there was an increase in cases but not significant.

"Investors will also pay close attention to inflation data from Indonesia. JCI moved at support levels of 6,559 and 6,570 as well as resistance at 6,602 and 6,623," concluded Dennies.
