PTPP Completes Central Java Pidekso Dam Construction 12 Months Faster Than Target

JAKARTA - The state-owned construction company, PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP), has completed the construction of the Pidekso Dam project located in Wonogiri Regency, Central Java Province. The dam construction project was officially inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, which was symbolically marked by a procession of pressing the siren button and signing an inscription.

During the inauguration, President Joko Widodo was accompanied by Minister of Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Indonesia Pramono Anung, Minister of Investment of the Republic of Indonesia Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimoeljono, Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo, Regent of Wonogiri Joko Sutopo, President Director of PTPP Novel Arsyad, and Director of Operations for Infrastructure Yul Ari Pramuraharjo. The inauguration ceremony was held at the Pidekso Dam location, Central Java on Tuesday, December 28.

The Pidekso Dam, which is owned by the Ministry of PUPR, has a total contract value of Rp. 739 billion, where construction began in 2014 and could be completed 12 months earlier than the target.

This dam has a storage capacity of 25 million cubic meters with an inundation area of 232 hectares. Pidekso Dam has a height of 44 meters.

The presence of the Pidekso Dam is expected to reduce flooding from 349 cubic meters per second to 311 cubic meters per second. In addition, the presence of the dam can be used to irrigate an area of 1,500 hectares and produce raw water of 300 liters per second.

Not only that, the dam which is located on the Bengawan Solo River can also be used as a tourism destination in Wonogiri Regency.

President Joko Widodo emphasized that if the Indonesian people want food independence, food sovereignty, and food security to be achieved, then reservoirs are the key.

"Reservoir is the key, water is the key. Therefore, we are building reservoirs in all provinces in our country", said President Joko Widodo.

Meanwhile, PTPP President Director, Novel Arsyad, said that the presence of the Pidekso Dam in Central Java Province is expected to have a positive impact on people in Central Java Province, especially those in Wonogiri Regency.

"The Pidekso Dam can also provide added value as a water tourism area that can be enjoyed by local tourists, especially the people who live around the dam. PTPP can complete the construction of the dam project with the best quality. Not only that, the construction of the Pidekso Dam and its facilities can be completed 12 months earlier than the target", said Novel Arsyad.
