Appreciates The Police For Naming League 3 Club Players Suspects For Beating Referee, PSSI Secretary General: Hopefully It Will Be A Deterrent Effect

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) appreciates the fast steps of the Police, in this case the Enrekang Police, who have named six PS League 3 club players Nene Mallomo Sidrap as suspects in the violent beating of referee Romi Daeng Rewa.

"Thank you very much to all those who have helped to resolve this case. Hopefully this will be a deterrent effect for anyone not to commit violence against the match equipment," said PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi, quoted from Antara, Monday, December 27.

The six PS Nene Mallomo Sidrap players who are suspects are Ilham Selano, Arman Surianto, Safwan, Muhammad Syamdan, Al Ashari and Ilham.

Of these names, only Ilham Selano and Arman Surianto have been arrested. The rest are being pursued by investigators.

They are said to have been involved in the beating of Romi Daeng during the South Sulawesi League 3 final match between Gasma Enrekang and PS Nene Mallomo Sidrap at the Bumi Massenrempulu Stadium, Enrekang, Friday, December 24.

As a result of the incident, Romi had to be taken to the hospital and received 10 stitches.

The suspects were charged with Article 170 in conjunction with Article 351 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of six years.

"We have conducted a case. The evidence includes a post-mortem, video, shoes used by players and the referee's clothes at the time of the incident," said Enrekang Police Chief Andi Sinjaya.
