Deputy Mayor Of Surabaya Checks Preparations For The Implementation Of Christmas Worship In Church

SURABAYA - Deputy Mayor of Surabaya Armuji on Friday checked the preparations for the 2021 Christmas service at the Christ the King Church in Tambaksari District, Surabaya City, East Java.

"We want to ensure that the implementation of the Christmas service (health protocol) at the church is in accordance with the provisions," said Armuji, quoted by Antara, Friday, December 24.

The Mayor of Surabaya has issued Circular No. 443.2/15424/436.8.4/2021 regarding the Implementation of Level 1 COVID-19 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) and the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 at Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022 in the City of Surabaya.

The circular letter is addressed to church leaders/managers, business actors, managers, organizers or persons in charge of business premises and/or public facilities, heads of RT/RW and urban village community empowerment institutions (LPMK), heads of regional apparatus, sub-district heads, and village heads.

According to government regulations, health protocols must be applied in carrying out worship activities in churches and residents who wish to participate in church worship activities must use the PeduliLindungi application.

"So before entering, you have to scan the barcode through the PeduliLindung application so that you can monitor the capacity of the congregation who will attend worship," said Armuji.

When he visited the church, Armuji also checked the implementation of the rules for restricting the congregation in the implementation of worship in the church and the distance between members of the congregation in the church.

He hoped that the 2021 Christmas Service would be safe, orderly, smooth, and solemn.

"On behalf of the Surabaya City Government, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Merry New Year for Surabaya residents who celebrate it, may peace be with us all," he said.
