Joint Officers Will Strictly Guard 151 Churches In East Jakarta

JAKARTA - Several churches in the East Jakarta area will be closely guarded by joint officers under the coordination of the East Jakarta Metro Police during the 2021 Christmas celebration.

East Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Erwin Kurniawan, ensured that his party would place personnel in all churches to prevent security disturbances during Christmas.

"We have 250 churches, there are 151 churches that carry out activities (offline worship). We have placed around 90 personnel in those places", the police chief told reporters, Thursday, December 23.

Later, the Polres will coordinate with Kodim 0505 and the East Jakarta City Government who will also deploy personnel to help secure the Christmas service at the church.

His party will also work closely with the administrators of each church in implementing security measures to ensure that the implementation of the COVID-19 prevention health protocol is running.

"Starting from sterilization to security assistance, as well as suggesting or initiating the PeduliLindungi application in every house of worship", he said.

The number of joint personnel deployed at the apple was 770 joint officers. In addition to securing the Christmas worship at the church, joint officers also anticipate security disturbances on New Year's Eve which are prone to brawls.
