South Jakarta KPKP Office Finds Expired Foods At Citos Supermarket

JAKARTA - The South Jakarta Sub-dept. of Food Security and Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KPKP) collaborated with BPOM to inspect a number of foods in Cilandak Town Square, South Jakarta. The activity was carried out ahead of the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year celebrations.

As a result, one supermarket was caught selling food that was moldy, or expired. This was confirmed by the Head of the Sub-dept. of Food Security and Marine Fisheries (KPKP) Hasudungan Sidabalok.

"That's right, sir," said Hasudungan when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, December 23.

It is known, as many as 63 product samples were examined in a mobile laboratory provided by BPOM Jakarta.

"We also check the parameters for testing livestock and fishery products for rot, formalin, and sensory tests. For fisheries, we will see if there are rhodamine and formalin," said Hasudungan.

Inspections were also carried out for types of chicken meat, processed foods, salted fish, fresh fish, squid, vegetables, crackers, and chilies. During the inspection, it was found that one of the products was unfit for consumption because it was moldy.

"We found there was salted sepat fish that had been moldy and we had pulled it out," said Hasudungan.

Hasudungan also explained, a warning will be carried out by the BPOM

“Primo Citos only acts as a seller... so a warning is given to producers. And the DKI Jakarta Provincial BPOM will call the producer who happens to be in the Tangerang area," said Hasudungan.

Meanwhile, South Jakarta Mayor Munjirin ensured that food ahead of Christmas 2021 and 2022 was safe from harmful substances. Therefore, his party wants to ensure that the food consumed by the community is safe to eat.

"This is an annual routine activity in every big day celebration. We want to ensure that what our people eat and consume is really safe food. It is safe from formalin pesticides, etc.," said Munjirin, Wednesday, December 22.
