Governor Syamsuar Says Vaccination In Riau Reaches 68 Percent

PEKANBARU - Riau Governor Syamsuar said that the vaccination for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) had reached 68 percent of the target of 70 percent or 4.8 million people who were targeted for vaccination.

"Alhamdulillah, our vaccination achievement has reached 68 percent," Syamsuar told reporters in Pekanbaru, Wednesday, December 22.

He said that although the achievement of vaccination in Riau is already high, his party is targeting to be more than the target of 70 percent by the end of 2021.

The more people who are vaccinated, he said, the communal immunity of the people in Riau Province should be achieved.

"The realization of the first dose of vaccination is 68 percent, meaning that there is only 2 percent left to reach the 70 percent target. Maybe in the next two or three days, it can reach 70 percent. Including the second dose of vaccination, it is also expected to increase," he said.

Assistant I of the Pekanbaru City Secretariat, Syoffaizal, said that the COVID-19 vaccination program in Pekanbaru City is still running. For residents who have not been injected with the vaccine, they can come to the Community Health Center or Puskesmas and health facilities (faskes).

"Every day there is, and now vaccinations for the elderly are being intensified to reach the 60 percent target. The stock of vaccines in the capital city of Riau Province is still sufficient. The realization of vaccinations has also started to increase," he said.

Based on data from the Department of Health (Dinkes), the realization of vaccination in Pekanbaru for the first dose was 691,239 doses (81.8 percent). While the second dose has been 552,532 doses or 65.4 percent of the total target of 845,274 residents.

Meanwhile, the number of residents who have not received the first and second doses of vaccination is 154,035 citizens (18.2 percent) of the target. Those who have not received the second dose are 292,742 residents (34.6 percent).

"So there are still 446,777 who need the first and second doses. Of that number, the City Government's vaccine needs reach 44,678 vials. Reports that go to Assistant I, the vaccine stock is still sufficient until the end of 2021," he said.
