Sissy Prescillia And Vanessa Prescilla Present Great Chemistry In Backstage Movies

JAKARTA - Sissy Prescillia and Vanesha Prescilla compete in the film Backstage directed by Guntur Soeharjanto. This film with the theme of music and family drama offers a unique story idea.

Backstage tells the story of Elsa Anindita (Vanesha Prescilla) and Sandra Anandara (Sissy Prescillia), brothers who support each other. One day, Elsa gets an offer to become a singer but her voice is filled by Sandra.

This music-themed Backstage film is a new challenge for director Guntur Soeharjanto. The reason is, he has never directed a music film as well as brought together two actresses who are also family in the real world.

"The story is interesting. I've never made a film with a song on it. Then meet the cast of Sissy and Sasa (Vanesha Prescilla's nickname). I used to meet Sissy in 2005 and her performance was really good,” said Guntur.

"Then meet Sasa, right? Wow, for me they both can represent this film properly and correctly. You can feel the emotions, the chemistry," he continued.

This story is inspired by the Milli Vanilli incident in 1989. Robert Ronny adapted the shadow singer phenomenon into a family drama.

"I was surprised when I heard Sissy sing and when I was asked why Sissy didn't sing and she said, "Sorry, mas I'm an actor." Well, I'll just make a movie so you can sing," said Robert Ronny.

“This film is personal to me. The idea came when I was with Mas Ronny. It also involves Sasa, which is my own younger brother who actually played and I saw the development of his first film," said Sissy.

Then, Vanesha Prescilla's search was found after Sissy submitted her sister's name in 2016. At that time, Vanesha had not yet started her career as an actress and this project was delayed until 2018.

"I'm happy to see the audience's response. I hope this film can bring happiness to the audience and a blessing for Indonesian films," said Vanesha. The Backstage film will premiere in Indonesian cinemas starting December 30, 2021.
