Child Drowning In South Jakarta's Ulujami, Found In West Jakarta's Pesanggrahan River In Dead Condition
JAKARTA - The body of a young boy was found floating lifeless in the Pesanggrahan River, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, Wednesday, December 22.
The identity of the victim is known to have the initials B (4), who was reported missing and drowned in a sewer in the Ulujami area, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta since Tuesday, December 21, yesterday. The missing victim was swept away by the current in the Pesanggrahan River.
The victim's body was found by PPSU officers who were around the river. The victim's body was evacuated to a hall by the river before the ambulance came to pick him up.
Responding to the finding of the dead boy's body, Kebon Jeruk Police Chief Kompol Slamet said the victim was found dead.
"He drowned from the stream towards Ulujami, South Jakarta," said Slamet when confirmed, Wednesday, December 22.
The victim's body was taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for a post-mortem before being returned to the family.
The Platoon Commander (Danton) of the Bandung Damkar Pesanggrahan Group, Wahyudin, had previously received information from the public about a missing child suspected of being swept away by the tide on Tuesday, December 21. At that time Baim was reportedly taking a rain shower with his friends around the sewer.
"It is still suspected that it drowned because the initial discovery only saw sandals above the culvert," said Wahyudin.
Wahyudin said the firefighters together with the South Jakarta BPBD then immediately carried out the search process. The search was carried out from the point where Baim allegedly disappeared in the sewers to the Pesanggrahan River.
