Durian-Producing Village In Kudus Set To Become A Tourist Village
KUDUS - The government of Kudus Regency, Central Java, has designated Margorejo Village, Dawe District as a tourist village because it is the largest durian fruit producer in the local area.
In addition to being a center for durian fruit, the local village also has a tourist attraction in the form of "Gebyar Ngunduh Duren" which is a gunungan party containing various agricultural products of local villagers, one of which is durian fruit.
The Regent of Kudus, Hartopo, hopes that Margorejo Village which is designated as a tourist village is really motivated to develop his village into a durian center village so that it can attract residents from outside the area to the local village.
"Remember durian, remember Pelang, which is a durian-producing area in Margorejo Village," he said, as quoted by Antara, Sunday, December 19.
With the designation as a tourist village, the local village must be able to show the wider community the durian plant area so that in the future a durian picking tour will be opened directly from the tree.

Moreover, after being designated as a tourist village, financial assistance from the Central Java Provincial Government was proposed for the development of a tourist village so that it could be used to increase the number of durian trees.
Head of Margorejo Village, Sumir Khan, added that his party had planted 1,000 durian tree seedlings, so that in the next five years they could hold a durian fruit picking tour from the tree directly.
"We are also working with the Agriculture and Food Office of Kudus Regency to look for durian trees that are native to Margorejo Village. Later, they will be reproduced to be planted in Pelang Hamlet and other hamlets to support this village as a durian center," he said.
