Inaugurating 57 Village Heads, Regent Of Kupang NTT Opens Up, There Are 14 Villages In The Very Disadvantaged Category
KUPANG - Regent of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT) Korinus Masneno said, there are 14 villages in this area that fall into the category of very underdeveloped villages.
"There are 14 villages that are classified as underdeveloped villages in Kupang Regency so that they are the government's focus to be resolved together," he said while inaugurating 57 village heads in the area in Kupang, Antara, Friday, December 17.
He said the village head position is the smallest regional authority position in the regional government structure but has a strategic position in the welfare of the community. The village head must be the spearhead of the successful implementation of regional autonomy in building the welfare of the village community.
The Kupang Regency Government, he continued, is trying to overcome the poverty that is currently entangling some local residents.
Moreover, according to him, there are still 14 villages classified as very underdeveloped and 86 villages classified as underdeveloped in the district bordering the Oecusse region, Timor Leste.
"Overcoming poverty in dozens of villages is a challenge that must be resolved immediately," said Korinus Masneno.
He hoped that the newly inaugurated village heads would be able to transform the village into developing and advancing in all aspects.
"The role and function of the village head as the administrator of government, development, development and empowerment of rural communities continues to be tested for quality. They must be more creative and innovative in empowering their resources to improve the community's economy," he said.
Korinus Masneno hopes that the village heads who have been appointed will immediately unite the differences and conflicts that occur in the community during the election process, as well as manage the village budget, both in planning, implementation, and accountability as well as possible.
"Build effective and harmonious coordination and collaboration partnerships with all other stakeholders, because the village government does not only consist of village heads but there are other elements that contribute to become a major force in realizing a complete and transparent government," he said.
