River Overflow Floods Residents' Settlements In South Tapanuli, North Sumatra
SIPIROK - The overflowing water of the Batang Toru River and Sangkunur River flooded the settlements of residents in Dusun II Muara Pardomuam and Hamlet III Setia Budi, Simataniari Village, Angkola Sangkunur District, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra.
"More than 20 houses were submerged. The water started to rise and submerged people's houses from this dawn, now the water level has reached one meter", said Village Head, Simataniari Habibullah Harahap, quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 16.
In addition to inundating settlements, the overflowing river water caused the Tindoan Laut State Elementary School and State 2 Junior High School complex to be inundated.
"Alhamdulillah, until now there have been no victims reported. Only the water is rising", he said.

Habibullah said village government officials had reported the flood incident in Simataniari to the sub-district government and the Regional Disaster Management Agency.
