KPK Ready To Cooperate With Police To Investigate Corruption Cases

JAKARTA - The joining of Novel Baswedan and dozens of former employees of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) of the National Police opens opportunities for them to deal with allegations of corruption that have been investigated previously.

In response to this, the KPK welcomes and is ready to cooperate with the National Police. Moreover, both parties have the same commitment to eradicating corruption in the country.

"KPK welcomes and will continue to provide support to every agency and institution that commits to consistently eradicate corruption", said KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs, Ali Fikri, to reporters, Tuesday, December 14.

This kind of cooperation, continued Ali, is also regulated by law. So, the KPK will do it as a form of synergy between other law enforcement officers who have the authority to investigate allegations of corruption.

Moreover, the KPK and other law enforcement officers such as the National Police cannot do their work alone.

"So that all stakeholders have the same vision to eradicate corruption, by understanding each other's functions, so that they can provide mutual support and counterparts to contribute in eradicating corruption", he said.

Even so, Ali asked the community to continue to play a role in efforts to eradicate corruption. This includes submitting reports if they find allegations of corruption.

Likewise in efforts to prevent corruption. Ali said all parties must work together. "Without public reports, it is difficult to obtain information", he said.

"Prevention without the support and supervision of the community, it is difficult to improve a system and governance consistently. Education without the commitment of the community itself, it is difficult to build a person with integrity and an anti-corruption culture", added Ali.

As previously reported, the Intermediate Policy Analyst for Public Information of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Kombes Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, said Novel Baswedan et al had the potential to re-investigate the cases he had handled at the KPK. It is also possible that the COVID-19 social assistance case ensnared the former Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari Peter Batubara.

"It is possible that what is conveyed as information and competence will strengthen the Police in handling cases of corruption in this beloved country", he said in a talk show broadcast on the National Police Headquarters Instagram account, Monday, December 13th.

Trunoyudo said that the information and experience possessed by Novel and other former KPK employees could be used by the Police in eradicating corruption. However, they are currently focusing on carrying out education and training at the Education and Administration Center, Bandung, West Java.
