A Total Of 45 People Died As A Result Of The Semeru Eruption

JAKARTA - The Commander of the Command Post for Emergency Response to the Impact of Hot Clouds and Fall of Mount Semeru, Danrem 083/Baladhika Jaya, Colonel Irwan Subekti, reported that a total of 45 people had died until the seventh day of the search for the disaster occurred.

"Until the seventh day, the total number of victims who died so far is 45. So today there are two additional victims from Renteng Village", Irwan said in an online press conference quoted by Antara, Friday, December 10.

Irwan reported that there are currently nine missing residents reported. Then there were 19 seriously injured and 19 minor injuries.

Burn sufferers are currently reported to have other comorbidities.

Meanwhile, according to data from the Emergency Response Task Force for the Impact of Hot Clouds and Falls of Mount Semeru, it was reported that there were 6,573 refugees, with material losses affected by 2,970 housing units.

A total of 33 units of public facilities were damaged. One of the worst things was the breaking of the Gladak Perak Bridge which connected parts of the Lumajang Regency with Malang.

Meanwhile, the two most affected sub-districts are Pronojiwo and Candipuro, Lumajang.

"There are 126 evacuation points, with details of 24 centralized evacuation points and 102 scattered or independent evacuation points", said Irwan.

In the centralized evacuation, there are 10 evacuation points in Pronojiwo Subdistrict, 10 in Candipuro Subdistrict, and 4 in Pasirian Subdistrict. Other refugees in 102 points spread throughout Lumajang Regency.

"Search and evacuation efforts have been carried out by deploying three SAR (search and rescue) teams, each consisting of between 75 and 100 people, with the search locations being in the Kobokan Bulk, then Renteng Village", said Irwan.
