2 Regional Representative Council Members Register Presidential Threshold Lawsuit To MK
JAKARTA - Two members of the DPD (Regional Representative Council), Fachrul Razi and Bustami Zainudin, officially registered a lawsuit against the presidential threshold or the threshold for presidential candidacy from 20 percent to zero to the Constitutional Court (MK).
Fachrul Razi and Bustami Zainudin, based on a written statement received in Jakarta, Friday, registered a lawsuit in the form of a request for a material review of Law (UU) Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections related to the presidential threshold accompanied by attorney Refli Harun.
"This lawsuit to the Constitutional Court is in the context of a material review of the Election Law related to the presidential threshold. We hope that this law will become a door for all nations, especially leaders in regions who have the potential to be able to take part at the national level", said Bustami Zainudin, quoted by Antara, Friday, December 10.
According to him, all Indonesians have the same opportunity to nominate themselves as national leaders. Thus, Bustami Zainudin hopes that the lawsuit can be accepted by the Constitutional Court to produce a fair decision for all Indonesian citizens.
In addition, Fachrul Razi asked for prayers and support from the entire community so that democracy in Indonesia can be enforced through the lawsuit.
"We pray to Allah SWT that the judges of the Constitutional Court will be moved to pay attention and decide fairly in the best way for Indonesian democracy and we hope that there will be zero percent answers to Indonesia's future. Greetings PT (presidential threshold) is zero percent", he said.

Then, Bustami considered the lawsuit against the presidential threshold to be important so that in the future the Election Law can become a reference for the Regional head election Law.
"If we can make this 20 percent zero, like it or not, like it or not, to elect regional leaders, whether regents, governors, or mayors, we hope that it will become the same reference", said the senator from Lampung.
Through the lawsuit they submitted, Fachrul Razi appealed to the Indonesian people to always speak up and campaign for a zero percent presidential threshold.
"Keep fighting, campaign for PT 0 percent to civil society, student movements, and all elements of democratic stakeholders. We speak out and campaign on social media and in our respective regions", Fachrul Razi urged.
