Villarreal Wins Champions League Last 16 Ticket

JAKARTA - Villarreal became the last team to reach the last 16 of the Champions League after two goals from Dutch international Arnaut Danjuma gave them a 3-2 win over hosts Atalanta.

This is the last match of Group F which was postponed a day from Thursday morning yesterday due to snow.

According to Antara, Villarreal wasted no time in giving them the lead when Danjuma was well-positioned to break the deadlock in the third minute.

Atalanta was in control of the match in Bergamo and created plenty of chances on target but their futility came at a heavy price with a turnaround when Etienne Capoue made it 2-0 three minutes before half-time.

The home side knows that only a win will see them clinch a place in the last 16 qualifying round of this group to accompany Manchester United. They then came out totally in the second half by launching an all-out attack.

But Danjuma gave Villareal the upper hand when he scored his second charming goal in the 51st before substitute Ruslan Malinovskiy scored to revive Atalanta's hopes 19 minutes from time.

Duvan Zapata then scored as Atalanta narrowed the gap to 2-3 but it was not enough as Villarreal secured second place four points clear of an Italian side forced out into the Europa League.
