KM Putra Samudera, Shipwrecked By The Waves At Tanjung Toronipa Konawe

KENDARI - The passenger and cargo ship, KM Putra Samudera 01, which sailed the Kaleroang route, Central Sulawesi-Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi sank in the waters of Tanjung Toronipa, Konawe Regency because it was hit by waves.

Basarnas in a written statement quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 7, explained that KM Putra Samudera 01, which was sailing in the middle of a storm, leaked due to being hit by the waves.

At 16.20 WITA Comm Center Search and Help Office (KPP) Kendari received information on 16.10 WITA a shipping accident, namely KM Putra Samudera 01, sank due to bad weather around Tanjung Toronipa waters, Konawe.

Based on the report, at 16.30 WITA, the Kendari KPP Rescue Team was dispatched to the accident site using RIB to provide SAR assistance.

The distance from the accident site to the main wharf of National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Kendari is about 10 NM.

The weather around the crash site was cloudy with wind speeds of 2-15 knots and wave heights of 1-2 meters.

There has been no official statement from the competent authorities regarding the number of crew members, the number of passengers, and the ship's cargo.

While sailing from the Port of Kaleroang, Central Sulawesi to the Port of Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, KM Putra Samudera 01 was hit by waves and water entered the waters of Tanjung Toronipa.
