Members Of DPR And DPRD From PKS Asked To Cut Salaries For Donations For Mount Semeru Victims, How Much Collected?
JAKARTA - The chairman of the PKS faction in the DPR RI, Jazuli Juwaini, invited all PKS legislative members from the center to the regions to cut salaries to help victims of the Mount Semeru eruption.
"I personally handed over the December salary to help the victims of the Mount Semeru eruption. We also invite all PKS legislators from the center to the regions to cut salaries, hopefully, it will be realized in the near future and can be delivered immediately," said Jazuli in a statement in Jakarta, Monday, December 6, reported by Antara.
Jazuli also invites all elements of Indonesian society wherever they are to move to help disaster victims in their respective ways and abilities as a form of national social solidarity.
According to him, FPKS will continue to support aid, one of which is by re-donating the salaries of the council in December for victims of the Mount Semeru disaster.
"On behalf of the PKS Faction, we express our condolences and deep concern over the eruption of Mount Semeru. Hopefully, the victims who died can be evacuated soon, families and the community will be given patience and fortitude," he said.
He said the PKS structure and cadres had come down at the first opportunity at the disaster site to help with the evacuation and emergency response process.
In addition, Jazuli hopes that the Government will move quickly to deal with the eruption of Mount Semeru, especially in evacuating residents in locations closest to Mount Semeru.
"We hope that the Government, BPBD, and BNPB, will move quickly, systematically, and coordinately to save the community. There should not be technical barriers to coordination between the central and regional governments because the safety of victims is the main priority at this time," he said.

Mount Semeru or Mount Meru is located in East Java. Mount Semeru, which erupted on December 4, is the highest mountain on the island of Java. The peak of Mount Semeru is Mahameru with a height of 3,676 meters above sea level (masl). Mount Semeru is the third highest after Mount Kerinci in Sumatra and Mount Rinjani in West Nusa Tenggara.
The crater at the top of Mount Semeru is known as Jonggring Saloko. Mount Semeru is located in two regencies, Malang Regency and Lumajang Regency, East Java. This mountain is included in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area.
