Merchant's Cart Parking Warehouse In Kampung Melayu Burns, Losses Reaches Rp400 Million
JAKARTA - The East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) said as many as 13 fire engines with a total of 65 personnel were deployed to tame the red rooster in Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta.
A fire devoured a building that was used as a warehouse for parking carts for merchandise on Abdulah Safei Street, Kampung Melayu Besar, Bidara Cina, Jatinegara, East Jakarta.
It was revealed that the report regarding the fire was received on Friday, December 3, at around 23.21 western Indonesia time.
"Received news at 23.21 western Indonesia time, reporter Fikri. The initial object was the parking for merchandise carts, the point of contact at the Kampung Melayu flyover," said East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Operations Head Gatot Sulaeman when confirmed by Antara in Jakarta, Saturday morning.
Gatot explained that the fire in the parking lot of H. Naharudin's 6x12 meter merchandise cart started from an electrical short circuit.

The fire then seemed to be getting bigger so residents took the initiative to contact the fire brigade.
"The owner didn't know there was a fire. The owner knew from residents who saw the fire was already big in the middle of the building and residents reported it to the officers," said Gatot.
A total of 13 units of fire engines with a total of 65 personnel were deployed to tame the red rooster.
"The blackout started at 23.32 western Indonesia time and the blackout ended at 00.21 western Indonesia time. The current situation is that the blackout has been declared over," he said.
Gatot reported that there were no casualties in the fire incident. He said the total loss was estimated at Rp400 million.
