Social Minister Tri Rismaharini Provides Protection For Persons With Disabilities Persecuted In Sukabumi
JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini visited people with disabilities who experienced persecution in Tegalbuleud District, Sukabumi Regency, Friday, December 3, to find out about their condition and environment.
Taking into account several considerations, the child with disability O (13) and his grandfather accepted an offer to get services at the Ministry of Social Affairs office. “His grandfather agreed but then he called his sons and daughters for approval. After discussing with everyone, finally, his daughter also agreed that we would take grandfather and O to the hall," said the Minister of Social Affairs as quoted by ANTARA.
During the assessment, the Minister of Social Affairs received information that O actually has the ability to speak. While in the service center later, people with mental disabilities will be given therapy.
"I explained to his daughter, actually O can speak only because he is not trained so he speaks a little. That's why we can get therapy so he can talk again," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

For legal cases, the Minister of Social Affairs stated that she had given instructions to her staff to escort this case to the legal realm. Thus, the perpetrators can be charged with appropriate legal sanctions. The police are said to have arrested the culprit.
On this occasion, the Minister of Social Affairs handed over assistance in the form of sleeping equipment such as mattresses, pillows, and bed linen, basic materials such as sugar, rice, cooking oil, and cash assistance. The total assistance is Rp15,234,500.
O experienced violence after he was caught untying the animal's rope belonging to the perpetrator which triggered the perpetrator to abuse O.
Regarding the incident, the Minister of Social Affairs gave advice so that all parties can understand people with disabilities like O. "Indeed, sometimes they do things that we don't understand. Because they don't understand, they don't want them to do that, but they don't know," she said.
Social Minister Tri Rismaharini also appealed to the public to guide and direct people with disabilities to carry out positive activities.
