Anies Wants Jakarta Public Transportation To Reach People With Disabilities

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan seeks to make public transportation in the capital city not only reach every point of the city, but also all levels of citizens, especially people with disabilities.

This was conveyed by Anies during the 2021 Inclusionfest Webinar with the theme "Public transportation connectivity that humanizes disability" in commemoration of International Disability Day.

"We will continue to strive so that public transportation in Jakarta can connect all citizens, from anywhere, to anywhere, so that equal access for all citizens is ensured, and everyone is served, especially friends with disabilities," Anies said in a virtual webinar, as quoted by Antara, Friday, December 3rd.

Anies said, Jakarta continues to strive so that the people of the capital city and its surroundings can become loyal customers of mass transportation.

According to Anies, one aspect of running public transportation is that the needs of citizens, especially people with disabilities, can be properly facilitated.

"Therefore, we feel the need to always involve all of our friends in development planning in Jakarta," said Anies.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government together with PT MRT Jakarta launched digital facilities for people with disabilities which were prepared at the Bundaran HI MRT Station. The facility provided for persons with disabilities is the Digital Intelligent Assistant (Dina).

Through Dina, passengers with disabilities can take advantage of technological sophistication, including the existence of video calling technology or video calls.

Later, operators in charge of operations centers, for example at the HI Roundabout Station, can communicate directly with passengers with disabilities.
