Youngest DPR Member Hillary Brigitta Letters To Dudung Requesting TNI Security, Head Of NasDem Faction: Army Chief Of Staff Doesn't Need To Respond
JAKARTA - Member of Commission I of the DPR from the NasDem faction as well as the youngest member of the DPR, Hillary Brigitta Lasut, requested assistance from the TNI to protect her from carrying out a sensitive task. She has also written to KSAD General TNI Dudung Abdurachman regarding this request for security assistance.
The head of the NasDem faction, Ahmad Ali, explained that his party had never instructed members to ask the TNI for assistance if they had urgent matters. Moreover, requesting an official letter directly to the Army Chief of Staff.
"I think the Army Chief of Staff doesn't need to respond excessively, there's no need to respond to that because I think it's inappropriate for the reasons stated earlier," said Ahmad Ali to reporters, Thursday, December 2.
According to the deputy head of the NasDem Party, a politician, especially a member of the DPR, should know the risks that will be faced while on duty. Moreover, said Ali, there is also no dangerous escalation to then ask the TNI to become an aide, especially Kopassus and Kostrad.
"It is not appropriate for a special force to be given security to a member of the DPR from the NasDem Faction, which I will certainly rebuke because it is without coordination from the faction," said Ali.
The member of Commission III of the DPR said that there was no problem if members of the DPR asked the TNI for assistance for security, only as a personal guard it was not ethical.
"If it's normative, it's actually legal, if it's ethically not right. Then if there is an urgent need there is the police as security, but what is urgent in my opinion," said Ali.

As for Hillary, Ali assessed that there was no urgency to openly ask the Army Chief of Staff for aides. However, his position as a member of Commission I of the DPR is a working partner of the TNI.
"If tomorrow is transferred from Commission I, what will the position be?" call Ali.
The DPR leadership only, added Ali, the escort came from the police element. Thus, it is inappropriate for Hillary to ask for an aide from the TNI.
"The chairman of the DPR is his bodyguard, private assistance whatever the term is from the police. Then it happens that other leaders are usually regulated by the state and given to them by the state. If members of the DPR ask for security guarding from the TNI, it doesn't seem right. Especially from Nasdem, I don't agree," explained Ali.
Ali also said that the NasDem Faction would reprimand Hillary regarding this matter. "Certainly, it means that there is no action by members of the DPR to take such individual actions. So all of that should be with the knowledge of the faction, let alone using state tools for personal gain," said Ahmad Ali.
