Salernitana Vs Juventus: Dybala Misses A Penalty, But Bianconeri Still Win

JAKARTA - Paulo Dybala failed to execute a penalty kick, but Juventus still pocketed three points from Salernitana headquarters. The Bianconeri won 2-0 over the hosts in the match week 15 of the Italian League at the Arechi Stadium, Salerno, Tuesday local time.

Before failing to convert the penalty, Dybala had already put Juve ahead in the 21st minute with a fine finish using a one-two cross with Dejan Kulusevski.

The hosts almost gave an instant reply through Luca Ranieri's through ball for Simy, but the Nigerian striker failed to beat goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesnya in a one-on-one situation.

In the 28th minute, captain Giorgio Chiellini, who finally returned from a prolonged injury, had a chance to find the Salernitana goal but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Juve's 1-0 lead lasted until half-time and Salernitana had another chance to equalize in the 58th minute as Ranieri beat Szczesny with a cross but the ball hit the post.

In the 70th minute, Alvaro Morata doubled Juventus' lead with a flick between the legs of goalkeeper Vid Belec when he received a pull-out pass from Federico Bernardeschi.

Juve continued to press, but their efforts to widen the advantage through Kulusevski and Dybala could still be countered by Belec.

Juve had the chance to complete the win when they were awarded a penalty in the third minute of injury time after Morata was brought down by Norbert Gyomber.

Dybala stepped up to be the executioner and slipped as he squared off so his shot bounced high over the bar while the Argentine striker fell hard on the pitch, even so, Juve won 2-0.

Despite the win, Juve is stuck in seventh place in the standings because they lost on goal difference to Fiorentina who both collected 24 points, while Salernitana is increasingly cemented as caretaker with eight points.

In the next match, Juventus will host Genoa at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday, December 5. The day before, Salernitana will visit the San Siro against AC Milan.
