Viral Troubled TNI-Police In Timika, Police: No Clashes, It's Due To Misunderstanding And Already Peace

JAKARTA - Papua Police Chief, Inspector General Police Marthinus D Fakhiri, said the incident of a fight between members of the Police and the TNI in Tembagapura, Timika, had been resolved peacefully.

He said the incident was just a misunderstanding, not a clash or a big commotion.

"There were no clashes, it was just a misunderstanding. It's been resolved, we've made peace", said Marthinus when confirmed in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Monday, November 29.

Videos of alleged commotion between members of the TNI who are members of the Nanggala Kopassus Task Force and members of the Police from the Amole Task Force in Mimika Regency have circulated on social media.

According to Marthinus, the Nanggala Task Force and the Amole Task Force are both under the Nemangkawi Task Force Operation.

"Nanggala is also under the Police Chief because it is under Operation Nemangkawi. Amole is also under the Kapolda, it has been resolved immediately", said Marthinus.

Marthinus did not elaborate on the existence of victims in the fight, but he confirmed that the matter had been resolved.

"The victim's injuries are normal. It has been resolved. It doesn't matter, God willing, it will be safe", he explained.

According to a press release from the Papua Police Public Relations, the misunderstanding occurred on Saturday, November 27 at Ridge Camp Pos RCTU Mile 72 right in front of the Mess Hall, Timika, Papua.

The misunderstanding started with six personnel of the Amole Company 3 Task Force who was at the RCTU Ridge Camp Mile 72 Post who were selling cigarettes.

Then came the Nanggala Kopassus personnel as many as 20 people buying cigarettes and complaining about the price of cigarettes sold by Amole Kompi 3 Assignment personnel. Furthermore and beatings using blunt and sharp objects against six Personnel Amole Company 3 Assignment.

In the press statement, the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Police Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, said the case was a misunderstanding between the Nanggala Kopassus Task Force personnel and the Amole Task Force.

The respective leaders after receiving the report, immediately coordinated to resolve the misunderstanding. Currently, the issue has been resolved amicably.

"Furthermore, disciplinary action against those involved in the fight will still be carried out", said Kamal.

After the incident, the situation in Mimika Regency, especially in Ridge Camp Pos RCTU Mile 72 right in front of Mess Hall, Timika, Papua is safe and conducive.
