Husband Who Stabbed His Wife's Head At An ATM Outlet In Pematangsiantar, North Sumatra Arrested

MEDAN - Police have uncovered the stabbing case of a woman at an ATM booth in Pematangsiantar City, North Sumatra. The police arrested REM, the victim's husband.

Head of Crime Unit of Pematangsiantar Police, AKP Banuara Manurung, through Head of Public Relations Subdivision, Iptu Rusdi Yahya, said the perpetrator was arrested in hiding in Pasar I Dusun Abadi, Tanjung Serang Elang Village, Panei Hulu District, Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra, Thursday, November 25.

Iptu Rusdi explained that the stabbing occurred on Tuesday, November 23, at noon at an ATM outlet on Jalan Kartini, Timbangan Village, West Siantar District, Pematang Siantar City.

At that time the victim, Aiga Fisyahdani, the perpetrator's wife, was taking money from the ATM.

However, suddenly without the victim's knowledge, the perpetrator opened the ATM door and immediately stabbed the victim from behind, precisely in the head.

"The perpetrator used a knife. As a result, the victim bleeds", said Iptu Rusdi in a written statement received on Thursday, November 25.

Then, continued Iptu Rusdi, the perpetrator again tried to stab the victim in the face. However, the victim immediately blocked it using his left hand.

As a result, the victim's left palm was hit by a knife to the point of bleeding. One of the residents who saw the incident then immediately intervened with the two.

The victim immediately ran and hid behind the residents who had gathered to see the incident.

"After that, the perpetrator had time to look for the victim. But fortunately, the residents immediately blocked the perpetrator. He was scared and immediately ran away", he explained.

For this incident, the victim reported her husband to the Pematangsiantar Police. Upon receiving the report, the police then pursued the perpetrator.

Iptu Rusdi also revealed the motive for the perpetrator to stab his wife. The perpetrator was upset because he wanted to be divorced.

For his actions, the perpetrators are subject to article 44 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 23 of 2004 and or article 351 of the Criminal Code concerning Domestic Violence and or persecution.
