Mayor Of Makassar Spreads CCTV At Ujung Tanah Where Group War Occurs Frequently

MAKASSAR - Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto mediates community leaders from four villages in Ujung Tanah Subdistrict and spreads closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in locations that are often used as youth group wars.

"We have gathered community leaders, the tripika element discussed social problems in the Ujung Tanah District. Anyway, we have taken all our efforts, education, and firm action against those who violate," said Moh Ramdhan Pomanto in Makassar, South Sulawesi, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, 24 November.

The group war which has claimed many lives and has been going on for more than 2 years in Ujung Tanah Sub-district has become a special concern for the government and the police.

The mayor, who is affectionately known as Danny Pomanto, explained that the meeting was to find solutions to the problem of group war, together with community leaders, head of RT/RW, tripika, lurah, and the sub-district head of Ujung Tanah.

After receiving information and input, related to the issue of group war, both from the head of the RT/RW and community leaders, the Mayor then draws several conclusions in reducing and anticipating group war.

"We took several conclusions in reducing group wars. We want to install lights there, I also direct youth activities to the northern area. We order each SKPD head, together with community leaders to put out the fire of conflict," he said.

In addition to directing positive activities with the involvement of the government, he said that his party would install CCTV cameras. Furthermore, it will be coordinated with the police.

"Every perpetrator involved in group war and caught on camera will be prosecuted," said Danny Pomanto.

Not only that, but Danny Pomanto also invited children in four residences to meet and then ask what their wishes were.

"'They need to be heard too. We involve community leaders bringing these children together, right, it depends on community leaders who are persuaded, we use a system, let those who hold consultations, the city government, the TNI, and the Police just escort them," said Danny Pomanto.

It also mentioned several locations that were often used as group wars, such as Barukang Street, North Barukang, Sabutung Street, and Gusung, Ujung Tanah District.
