With IOSS, Now It's Easier To Manage Passports And Visas At The Consulate General In Los Angeles
Los Angeles - Applicants for passport and visa services in Los Angeles (LA), United States (US), and surrounding areas do not need to come all the way or early in the morning to get a queue for passport and visa services. This is because the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) LA is currently applying the Immigration Online Service System (IOSS), a new innovation in the passport and visa service appointment system. This system makes it easier for the public to access passport and visa services electronically, paperless, quickly, and easily.
Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna H. Laoly, during a working visit to the Indonesian Consulate General in LA on November 14, had the opportunity to witness firsthand how the IOSS works.
Yasonna appreciates the service of this system because it is proven to provide easy service to the community. "The IOSS innovation is in line with President Jokowi's direction to continue to innovate, especially in public services by optimizing digital technology. Very good and should be used as an example, "said Yasonna.
Meanwhile, according to the Immigration Technical Staff of the Indonesian Consulate General, LA Sigit Setyawan, who is the inventor of the IOSS innovation, said that IOSS is a simple appointment system application but can be an answer to public complaints and from internal immigration officers. With this application, people can access registration to get passports or visas from their homes, with their respective devices very easily.
“From the appointment registration data on the IOSS system, which is automatically stored digitally, passport and visa applicants will get information on when to come to the Indonesian Consulate General in LA. This is very helpful for both officers and applicants for passport and visa services," said Sigit when confirmed Saturday morning local time, November 20. "Thus the atmosphere of the Indonesian Consulate General in LA remains conducive in implementing health protocols," he added.

Through IOSS, continued Sigit, statistical data of passport applicants can be known. This data can be used for the registration process for Indonesian citizens in the context of the 2024 election. "Because the data entered in the IOSS application is automatically stored digitally in the database, so that the address, phone number, and email data are stored accurately," explained Sigit.
For the implementation of this innovation in passport and visa services, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi rewarded the technical staff of Immigration of the Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles with the Hassan Wirajuda Protection of Indonesian Citizens Award on December 18, 2020.
