Below The National Average, Bali's UMP Increases By IDR 22,000

DENPASAR - The Provincial Government of Bali announced the amount of the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) in 2022. The UMP amount rose 0.98 percent or IDR 22,971 which took effect in January 2022.

"Yes, it has been announced and there is an increase of IDR22,971 for this year", said the Head of the Manpower Service (Kadisnaker) and ESDM for the Province of Bali, Ida Bagus Ngurah Arda when contacted on Friday, November 19.

For Bali UMP in 2021, it will be IDR 2,494,000 and in 2020 it will be IDR 2,516,971. The increase in the UMP is based on the decision of the Governor of Bali Number 779/03-M/HK/2021 dated 18 November 2021 concerning the Provincial Minimum Wage.

The figure of Rp22,971, continued Arda, had been agreed upon by workers and employers. Everyone agreed no one refused. According to him, the 2022 UMP is better than last year. Because in 2021 there was no increase in the UMP or the same as the 2020 UMP.

"All the signatures and no one refused. I think it is ideal, especially workers and employers realize", said Arda.

Meanwhile, the District Minimum Wage (UMK) is currently still being discussed in each region by the wage council. He said the UMP is a reference for districts to determine the size of the UMK.

"As a reference, the UMK cannot be lower than the UMK. We hope that the UMK is bigger than the province", he explained.

Arda said Bali's UMP is still below the national average increase of 1.09 percent. This is influenced by the economic condition of Bali which has slumped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Thankfully we have increased because of the 34 provinces, the economic growth in Bali is the lowest, minus", he said.

"We will communicate the results of the discussion to the governor. The formula is certain. The calculation is definitely based on the figures given by the center. Data on economic conditions and employment data will then be obtained", he said.
