In Aceh, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Warns Of The Dangers Of Disaster, And There Must Be Mitigation
ACEH - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked the Aceh Provincial Government to carry out disaster mitigation as an area prone to natural disasters.
"I remind you of the dangers of this disaster. Aceh is prone to (disasters), so you must really prepare as early as possible through mitigation of the possibility that (disaster) will occur," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin while chairing a meeting at the Aceh Governor's Office, quoted by Antara. Between, Tuesday, November 16.
The Vice President said that natural disasters can occur at any time, so that in order to minimize the risk of the impact of these disasters, it is necessary to prepare and prevent them as early as possible.
"I also make appeals, don't let us prepare when the time (disaster) comes, because this is what we face every year. Therefore, we must mitigate and prepare steps to minimize the disaster," he said.
Various disaster mitigation measures that the Aceh Provincial Government can take, said the Vice President, include preparing temporary shelters, emergency kitchens, and health care.
"Thus no casualties will occur because they have been prepared, and the community is prepared, ready to face every possibility. Even though the disaster does come, we are ready and minimize (the impact)," he explained.
Previously, the Vice President appealed to all local governments (Pemda) to improve public education in disaster mitigation. The appeal was based on a warning from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) regarding natural events due to extreme weather changes.
"Do better mitigation planning considering that the warning from BMKG has been given long before," said the Vice President.
Regarding the short-term response, the Vice President asked the local government to invite the community to start working together from now on in dealing with disasters.
The vice president asked the local government and the public to increase their awareness of the impacts of climate change and weather in various regions in Indonesia.
"Raise vigilance because the impact of climate change and extreme weather cannot be fully predicted accurately. We, as a nation of learners, should be able to take the experience of disasters in the past as a valuable lesson," he said.
