Sri Mulyani Encourages Ministries And Institutions To Benefit State Assets For The Community

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani, stated that state property (BMN) is a state asset obtained through state finances. For this reason, she hopes that the ministries and institutions that manage state assets can provide the maximum benefit to the community.

It was stated that in the 2020 report period, the value of BMN (State Property) reached IDR 6,585 trillion. This figure represents 59.3 percent of the total assets in the balance sheet, which is IDR 11,098 trillion.

"Asset management is like managing the public trust, so it must be maintained", she said through a virtual channel when giving a speech at the BMN Award, Monday, November 15.

According to the Minister of Finance, proper BMN management can provide maximum economic impact and non-financial benefits, including the conversion of BMN into emergency hospitals such as athletes' homestays, hajj dormitories, and training dormitories for self-isolation in various regions.

"That's the benefit of BMN. When we face a disaster and it turns out that we can take advantage of it, it reduces the cost of building from scratch and creates efficiency and effectiveness for us in utilizing state-owned assets", she said.

Minister of Finance added BMN management does not only occur when the asset has been built but also starts from planning, budgeting, procurement, utilization, maintenance, appraisal, to the period of removing goods that must use good governance principles.

"The Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) as the retainer of the asset custodian, as well as in ministries and institutions to continue to maintain and use them must be considered optimally", she said.

To note, according to the Regulation of the Minister for Empowerment of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Number 26 of 2020 concerning Guidelines for Evaluation of the Implementation of Bureaucratic Reform, the Ministry of Finance has formulated the formula for the Asset Management Index (IPA).

Meanwhile, IPA is one part of the measurement of the area of reform in management that aims to improve the effectiveness and efficiency, work processes, and procedures of each ministry and institution.

"Indonesian people's money must be managed carefully, managed in an accountable manner, both in terms of state revenues, both in terms of debt financing and in terms of results, namely state-owned assets", closed the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
