Exporters Must Know, Ratification Of The Madrid Protocol Makes Business Overseas Easier, Register Through The Ministry of Law and Human Rights' Directorate General of Intellectual Property

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum HAM) said that the Madrid Protocol (Madrid Protocol) international agreement has proven to be effective in facilitating people who export goods abroad.

Acting (Plt) Director General of Intellectual Property of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Razilu said that brand owners who wish to export goods only need to register with a number of export destination countries through the DJKI of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

"With the accession (ratification) of this international agreement, the government provides convenience and protection for trademarks for owners," he explained at the Madrid Protocol Webinar on Procedures and Benefits of International Mark Registration, in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Monday, November 15.

Razilu added that failure to utilize the brand protection system in export destination countries will have an impact on entry barriers. Therefore, brand owners are expected to immediately register goods to be exported abroad through the Madrid Protocol system before doing business in the international market.

By registering, the related mark will be safe to use abroad. Of course, this will have a positive impact on business people and national economic growth.

In general, Razilu said the brand used plays an important role in building a product's reputation. Products that can prove quality will gain the trust of the public or consumers.

Therefore, entrepreneurs or brand owners of an item must be able to position their products so that they can be accepted by consumers in a sustainable manner.

"Keep in mind that growing the right and a strong brand is the first key to opening the business world," he said.

Currently, the business world is growing so rapidly. The process of buying and selling is not only conventional but also through the digital world. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic is the strongest moment in marketing products towards industry 5.0.
