Indonesian Motor Association Chairman Bamsoet Calls Sean Gelael's Achievement As Runner-up At WEC Is Extraordinary Dedication
JAKARTA - Sean Gelael's slick achievement in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) was fully appreciated by the General Chairperson of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Motor Association (PP IMI), Bambang Soesatyo. According to Bamsoet as he is known, Sean's dedication to the country is extraordinary.
"His dedication is truly extraordinary. He has given everything with great sacrifices. And the results are both we can see now," said Bamsoet when met at a press conference at PP IMI's headquarters, Senayan, Wednesday, November 11.
Sean who is a member of the JOTA #28 team has succeeded in becoming a racer who brought the highest title to the country in a racing event recognized by the FIA. Sean managed to secure the runner-up position in the closing series race which was held in Bahrain, Saturday, November 6.
Appearing as a rookie, Sean immediately showed his achievements. Paired with Tom Bloqvist (England) and Stofel Vandoorne (Belgium), Sean led the JOTA team #28 to the podium and closed the season in second place in the standings.
For the achievements of Sean and the JOTA #28 team who successfully flew the red and white in Bahrain, Bamsoet welcomed Sean as one of the heroes of the racing world sector. Because Sean is considered to be an oasis in the midst of the dryness of world-class racing athletes from the country.

"I consider Sean Gelael a hero of Indonesian motorsport. At a time when we were running out of world-class racing athletes, Sean, who is the only racer in the country, is now doing well," he added.
Bamsoet also gave full appreciation to Sean and the team, because he witnessed how they struggled on the circuit. He was even present to witness Sean compete in the two final series.
"I witnessed Sean's struggles at Le Mans 24H and Bahrain 8H. I saw with my own eyes that Sean's struggles on and off the track were total," he said.
