Elected As Commander Of The Indonesian Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa Explains The Focus Of Work For The First 100 Days

JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), General Andika Perkasa, revealed that his main focus is on the 100 working day period when he will be sworn in as the highest person in the military. One of them is related to the improvement of actions in the field when carrying out tasks that refer to the legislation.

As is known, Andika has been appointed by Commission I of the House of Representatives to be the Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces elected to replace Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, who will retire in November 2021.

"Only one, my priority is how to make us hold more to the laws and regulations as our basis, especially those of us below who carry out the tasks assigned by the government as well as tasks that we think need to be done", he said, after the fit and proper test, at the House of Representatives Building, Senayan, Saturday, November 6.

Andika explained that it is very important for TNI soldiers to act and act by what is contained in TNI Law Number 34 of 2004. So later, said Andika, TNI soldiers cannot act arbitrarily.

"Because it is very important for me, we can no longer arbitrarily or act as if we have the authority", he said.

According to Andika, he will also act by what is mandated in the TNI Law. He will also stick to his commitments.

"What we will do is by the laws and regulations, really, what are the legal regulations, we must do that", he explained.

Previously, Commission I of the House of Representatives approved Andika Perkasa to become the TNI Commander to replace Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, who will retire in November 2021.

Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives Meutya Hafid said that the approval of Commission I of the House of Representatives for Andika Perkasa to become the Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces was due to having held an internal meeting. In the next process, the House of Representatives held a plenary meeting on Monday, November 8 to approve Andika Perkasa appointed as TNI Commander, before being sworn in by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

For your information, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has just appointed Army Chief of Staff General Andika Perkasa as a candidate for TNI Commander to replace TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto who will retire in November 2021. Andika is the sole candidate in the nomination as the supreme leader of the TNI.

Andika's name was proposed by Jokowi to the House of Representatives on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, to undergo a fit and proper test.

If later officially elected as the number one person in the TNI, Andika will only be the commander for approximately one year. The reason is, Andika will enter retirement on December 21, 2022.
