The congestion has occurred since Wednesday, April 16 until now. The Police, Jasa Marga, the Ministry of Transportation, and the port also intervened to overcome this.

KSOP Tanjung Priok Reveals The Cause Of Traffic Jams

Head of the Tanjung Priok Port Authority and Port Authority (KSOP) Office, M. Takwim Masuku, said that the congestion that occurred was triggered by the increase in the volume of activities at the port which was very significant ahead of the long holiday or long weekend.

In fact, the system in the common gate and NPCT1 areas is functioning normally. In addition, three large ships docked at NPCT1 with a total loading and unloading volume of more than 4000 TEUs.

"This causes a very significant increase in activity volume from what is usually around 2,000-2,500 TEUs and is one of the causes of traffic jams that occur," he said in a written statement.

To overcome traffic jams, KSOP has diverted vehicles heading to NPCT1 directed into the port area for decomposition. Meanwhile, congestion from Ancol direction, vehicles are diverted to buffer areas in Inggom, while waiting for traffic conditions outside the port to improve.

"We also continue to coordinate with the Tanjung Priok Port Police and Regional Pelindo 2 Tanjung Priok to unravel congestion," continued Takwim.

Meanwhile, the Head of Traffic at the North Jakarta Police, AKBP Donni Bagus Wibisono explained that traffic jams occurred at several points, especially at Post 9 Tanjung Priok Port and the NPCT 1 front area, where large vehicles dominated the port entrance.

KSOP together with the Tanjung Priok Port Police and related parties continue to work together to unravel congestion and ensure traffic conditions around the port return to normal. "We are coordinating intensively to accelerate the decomposition of congestion around the port," said Donni.
