Encourage Digital Ecosystems, BDDC Holds Topping Off JST Site Tier IV Data Center In Jakarta

JAKARTA - Together with the Digital Data Center (BDDC) held a construction completion ceremony (topping off) BDDC JST1 (Jakarta - South - East), which is the Tier IV BDDC data center in Jakarta.

This Data Center will focus on increasing capacity and efficiency, better reliability with innovation that continues to grow, and is proof of BDDC's efforts to accelerate and fulfill digital infrastructure needs in Indonesia.

Seeing the increasing number of internet penetration throughout Indonesia (78.19 percent), BDDC is here as a collaborative platform between players in this industry to contribute to the growth of the digital economy.

After being officially launched in May 2023, the BDDC comes through the acquisition of two in-city data centers that are projected to have a capacity of up to 60 megawatts, and will strengthen interconnectivity in Jakarta.

"Our goal is only one, which is to provide a platform to collaborate between players in the industry in Indonesia. We make this BDDC a collaboration platform between digital players so that together we encourage the growth of the digital economy in Indonesia," said President Commissioner of the Joint Digital Data Center (BDDC), Setyanto Hantoro in his remarks at the BDDC Topping Off event on Tuesday, November 21 in Jakarta.

At the same time, Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII) Muhammad Arif Angga hopes that this collaboration between APJII and BDDC can be a new step in overcoming the peak of existing traffic.

"We need to collaborate this because the presence of data center infrastructure is like this in BDDC and maybe in other places it is a good synergy between data center organizers and ISP organizers that have been widely distributed in Indonesia," said Arif.

Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi also said that Kominfo consistently encourages and supports the growth of a digital ecosystem that is able to support Indonesia's economic growth.

"I appreciate every initiative of the private sector in growing new economic potential in the context of accelerating national digital transformation. For that I congratulate and succeed for BDDC," said Budi.

BDDC itself has four main advantages in its role in encouraging a solid digital ecosystem, namely Interconnectivity, Scalability, Reliability, and Sustainability.

"This advantage will be the spearhead of the BDDC JST service, thus encouraging business growth in our data center service users," concluded President Director of the Joint Digital Data Center (BDDC) Angelo Syailendra.
