This Crypto Whale Forgot Ethereum Wallet Lock, Threatened With Losing 250,000 ETH Worth IDR 7.4 Trillion

JAKARTA - A bank founder in Estonia, Rain Lohmus, admitted that he had lost the key to the Ethereum wallet which contained more than 250,000 ETH worth nearly IDR 7.4 trillion. The wallet is one of the oldest untouched Ethereum wallets since the initial coin (ICO) offering in 2014.

Lohmus revealed this in an interview at Vikerraadio last week. He said that he bought an ETH worth USD 75,000 (IDR 1.17 billion) during the 2014 ICO and stored it in a wallet that is now inaccessible. He said that the wallet is no longer a secret and anyone can see the balance.

"It's no secret that I have a wallet with 250,000 Ethereum units, anyone can calculate for themselves how much it is worth," Rain Lohmus said during an interview.

According to Conor Grogan, a Coinbase director, the wallet address or wallet address in question is 0x2b6ed29a95753c3ad94448e3e7b1251080ffb9. Grogan was able to connect Lohmus with the wallet based on his interview.

Grogan also said that the wallet was the only whale wallet or Ethereum whale that had not been touched by ICO 2014. Infomration alone, whales or whales in this context refer to large amounts of crypto owners.

"This is the only untouched ICO whale wallet I can find. Imagine the mental fortitude to survive through some bull and bear markets. Although much more likely results are that they lose their key," Grogan wrote on platform X (Twitter).

The wallet now has a balance of 250,000 ETH worth 474 million US dollars (Rp7.4 trillion). The wallet has also received more than 6 million US dollars (Rp 94 billion) in the form of an airdrop just holding ETH.

Lohmus said that he was open and would accept offers from anyone who could help him regain access to the crypto wallet containing hundreds of thousands of ETHs.
