JAKARTA - OpenAI has now announced that it has rolled out the Custom Instructions feature to all ChatGPT users, without having to subscribe first.

“Custom instructions are now available to ChatGPT users on a free plan, except in EU & UK where we will be rolling them out soon,” wrote OpenAI in its announcement on X on Thursday, August 10.

Introduced in July exclusively for paid ChatGPT Plus users, this feature allows you to provide specific requests to ChatGPT, which you want to apply to each conversation.

This highly requested feature will allow users to create an introduction to their request containing instructions for the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot to consider before responding to a question.

OpenAI also shares some cases of using ChatGPT Custom Instructions. One of them is, developers who use this feature can ask the chatbot to respond in the language they prefer.

Or in the case of creating a novel, you can use a character sheet to help ChatGPT maintain consistency in the understanding of story characters in ongoing interactions.

With this expansion, free ChatGPT users can now try it via the website, Android or iOS. Additionally, custom instructions can now be used even with chat history turned off, notes OpenAI.

To use custom instructions, you must first click on your name and then select custom instructions to get started.
