JAKARTA - On July 21, OpenAI announced its plans to launch an Android version of the popular artificial intelligence chatbot (AI), ChatGPT, in the coming week. This launch follows its release to iOS users in May.

The company announced the launch via tweets and provided an ordering page on the Google Play Store, which allows users to register for installations once the app is ready for use.

This announcement follows OpenAI's latest efforts to increase the safety and transparency of its tools with initiatives such as content watermarking. The company has been under scrutiny due to concerns about the disinformation it generates.

OpenAI highlights the enhanced security measures on this Android app compared to the web version. The app will also offer features such as synchronizing conversation history on various devices, similar to the iOS version.

By introducing Android and iOS applications, OpenAI immediately competes with Microsoft's Bing Chat, which also uses OpenAI's GPT-4 technology. This application is an alternative for users to test large language models (LLM) without having to rely on a web browser.

With regard to its launch, Google also released its chatbot called Bard in the European Union and Brazil. Other competitors are also starting to emerge, such as Anthropic with its assistant called Claude 2, which offers features that go beyond the paid version of OpenAI's ChatGPT. ChatGPT itself experienced a decrease in traffic in June the first since its launch.

The crypto community has widely embraced ChatGPT and other AI chatbots, some even use this technology to develop new tokens.
