Kaspersky: Cybersecurity Resilience Is A Way To Protect Organizations In The Digital Age

JAKARTA - Based on the Future Enterprise Resiliency and Development Survey IDC 2022, there are as many as 65 percent of companies in the Asia/Pacific region experienced ransomware incidents blocking systems and data access, with 83 percent of them experiencing business disruptions for several days to several weeks.

The survey also stated that the total financial loss from the targeted cyberattack cost up to US$109,000 (Rp1.62 billion) for the entertainment segment in 2022, and includes reputational damage due to leaked or sold data to other cyber threat actors.

To date, Kaspersky has detected more than 1 billion cyber threats and 400,000 new malware samples detected daily.

According to the global cyber security company, in the face of increasingly spreading threats, the main goal of cybersecurity operations in addition to detecting and stopping threats is cyber resilience.

In a sense, organizations need to align cyber resilience strategies with their business leaders and technology, work closely together to ensure minimal disruption is possible and easier recovery.

According to the IDC 2022 Asia/Pacific Enterprise Services and Securityourcing survey, 43 percent of businesses in the region state that the biggest challenge to increasing IT security capabilities is aligning business and security goals.

"The lack of skilled IT security professionals, the implementation of fragmented IT and security platforms and human factors in staff that are not equipped with adequate cybersecurity awareness training appears in each organization, thus making the implementation of a cyber security framework a tiring task," said Adrian Hia, Managing Director of Asia Pacific Kaspersky.

The Future Enterprise Resiliency and Sharing survey, IDC 2022 states that the IT security professional (37%) is the most requested technological role in the region, followed by the IT Operations professional (33%).

Unfortunately, this quality IT security professional shortage resulted in 76% of businesses in Asia/Pacific having to reduce, cancel, or delay technology planning initiatives, while 34% stated that a shortage of skills put them at higher risk of cyberattacks.

To stay ahead of cyber threats, organizations must seek to collaborate with trusted cybersecurity vendors, especially those with expanded detection and response capabilities (XDR) that offer their services and expertise in technology, organization, and human resources to ensure cyber resilience initiatives remain met.
