Record Print, Sony Has Sent 38.4 Million PS5 Around The World

JAKARTA - Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced that it has delivered 6.3 million PS5 consoles in the first three months of 2023.

During 2022 to March 31, 2023, the company said it had shipped 38.4 million PS5. That way, the PS5 became Sony's console with the most shipments worldwide.

Because previously, launching the VGC, Sony only sent 3 million PS4 consoles during the first three sales, namely between January and March 2014. Overall, Sony has only managed to deliver more than 40 million PS4 consoles.

Sony also mentioned that PlayStation Plus subscribers have now reached 47.4 million subscribers. Meanwhile, monthly active users of the PlayStation Network (MAU) increased by two million from year to 108 million.

Going forward, Sony said it would ship 25 million PS5 consoles over the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2024, which will set a record for the PlayStation console. "If we could achieve that, it would be our highest level," said CFO Hiroki Totoki during a earnings call, quoted Sunday, April 30.

On the other hand, overall Sony managed to sell 68 million PS4 and PS5 software in the quarter ending March 31. This number is down 2.5 million from last year. About 70 percent of software sales are digital game downloads.
