The Importance of Mandalika MotoGP for Alex Marquez's Struggle to Rise

JAKARTA - Gresini Racing racer, Alex Marquez, has not yet fully recovered from his injury. However, both of them will try their best to appear at the Mandalika MotoGP.

The Mandalika MotoGP has an important meaning for Alex Marquez who is recovering from a broken bone he suffered over the weekend at the Indian MotoGP.

Marquez himself still needs a doctor's permission on Thursday, October 12, before deciding to take part in the 2023 Mandalika MotoGP race.

"Mandalika, Phillip Island and Buriram will host the Indonesian, Australian and Thai GPs respectively. All three tracks are equally exciting and very different from each other, while the Gresini MotoGP Team aims to return to perfect condition to fight for results important," said Gresini's statement quoted on Monday, October 9.

"The goal is to return to the top 10 of the championship for Marquez and Diggia (Fabio Di Gianantonio). Both are 11 points away from their respective targets," added Gresini.

Both Alex Marquez and Di Gianantonio, who are Gresini racers, have at least once tasted the podium in the first three races. However, Gresini admitted that he needed to return to his initial performance to get positive results.

Di Gianantonio won the Thai GP and finished runner up at Phillip Island (Moto3) in 2018. Meanwhile, Alex Marquez also won runner up in Australia, while still paving in Moto3.

The race in Mandalika was an important moment for Alex Marquez to pursue his initial target. Currently the racer from Spain is in 11th position in the 2023 MotoGP standings.

Alex Marquez went through this season with a record of failing to finish four times. Apart from that, he also failed to race at the Indian MotoGP because he was declared not yet fit from injury and hoped to be able to perform at Mandalika.
