Lewis Hamilton Signs New Contract With Mercedes, Value Reaches IDR 1.9 Trillion!

JAKARTA Formula 1 racer Lewis Hamilton officially extended his tenure with the Mercedes GP. He will stay in that team for at least the next two years.

Thus, the Formula 1 legend will continue his career with Mercedes in the 2024 and 2025 seasons. This new deal is reportedly worth 100 million or around IDR 1.9 trillion.

Before this opportunity was created, there was much speculation circulating that Hamilton would end his career at the end of the season or move the team dramatically to other teams like Ferrari.

Namun, sang juara dunia tujuh kali itu kini menegaskan bahwa dirinya akan tetap bertahan di Mercedes, tim yang membawa dia mendapat enam gelar dunia.

"We dream every day to be the best and we have dedicated the past decade together to achieving that goal," he said.

"Being at the top does not happen overnight or in a short time, it takes commitment, hard work and dedication and it is an honor to enter history books with this extraordinary team," he added.

This deal was also extended by his teammate George Russell. Mercedes announced that the British duo will continue to be their riders for both seasons.

This new contract means Hamilton's tenure at the constructors based in Brackey will last 13 years after he leaves McLaren.

Meanwhile, Russell, 25, only joined the team in 2022 after spending his first three seasons in Formula 1 with Williams Racing.
