Apriyani/Siti Fadia Tembus Top 10 BWF, Signals Rise Again?

JAKARTA - The pair Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti again penetrated the top 10 in the BWF rankings. The Indonesian women's doubles shot up their position after becoming runners-up in the 2023 Badminton World Championships.

This could be a signal of Apriyani/Siti Fadia's revival whose performance has recently been in the spotlight. The success at the 2023 World Championships is expected to trigger the SEA Games gold medalist.

Based on BWF's latest ranking, Apriyani/Siti Fadia rose four positions to eighth place in BWF. The Indonesian women's doubles collected 69,933 points from the 17 tournaments they have participated in so far.

Meanwhile, the first rank is still occupied by Chinese women's doubles Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan who managed to collect 104,904 points from the 13 tournaments they participated in.

Chen/Jia are the winners of the 2023 World Championship gold medal which beat Apri/Fadia with a score of 21-16, 21-12. This is Chen/Jia's fourth win in the tournament and makes them the most successful women's doubles at the World Championships of all time.

In the men's doubles sector, the pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto are still the best in the world. However, India's Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty are now only less than 4,000 points adrift.

South Korean men's doubles Kang-minhyuk/Seo Seung-jae also moved up two places to fourth after winning gold for the World Championship, just behind Chinese representative Liang Wei Berking/Wang Chang who still fill the top three.

In addition, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan are ranked 10th in the world, right above Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin. Meanwhile, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana rose two places to 13th position.

For the men's singles sector, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting is also still ranked second in the world, just behind defending champion Viktor Axelsen who is still solid at the top. Meanwhile, Jonathan Christie has dropped four places and is now in ninth position in the world.

While in the women's singles and mixed doubles sectors, there is no significant change. Women's singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung is still ranked eighth in the world.

Meanwhile, the mixed doubles Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, and Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja are ranked 14, 17, and 18 in the world, respectively.
