Getting Offers To Train 2 Saudi Arabian Clubs, Jose Mourinho Chooses To Be Loyal To AS Roma

JAKARTA - AS Roma coach, Jose Mourinho admitted that he had two offers to coach a Saudi Arabian club. But he refused the offer and chose to stay with the Giallorossi.

Recently, the Saudi Arabian club has been very aggressive in maneuvering to attract the big name of European footballers. Not only players, but several coaches were also brought in to attract the attention of the world.

For example, Steven Gerrard, who is now close to Al Ettikaq. Following Gerrard, rumors of a coach's move to Saudi Arabia also hit Mourinho.

The rumor first emerged since April, when Al Nassr sacked Rudi Garcia from a coaching position. The Saudi Arabian club reportedly approached Mourinho and awarded a contract worth 50 million euros per year, with a duration of two years that would make him the most expensive coach.

However, rumors of the club Cristiano Ronaldo that Mourinho did not materialize. Al Nassr actually appointed Luis Castro as coach.

But rumors linking Mourinho to Saudi Arabian clubs did not stop there. In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Mourinho admitted to getting two offers but not Al Nassr.

However, Jose Mourinho rejected the offer from two Saudi Arabian League clubs. The Portuguese coach admitted that he wanted to continue to handle AS Roma.

'Al Hilal and Al Expert. Yes, there is an offer,' said Mourinho.

"Before the meeting, I told the owners, explaining that I had no intention of accepting the offer. At home I also said the same thing," he said as reported by Football Italia, Tuesday, August 8.

"On the one hand, I feel like I was being held hostage by my words to the players in Budapest and to the fans after fighting Spezia, about staying at the club. But if you ask me if I don't accept the offer just for this reason, I will answer no, not just because of that," he added.

In addition to his decision to reject two offers from Saudi Arabian clubs, Jose Mourinho still has a contract with AS Roma until June 2024. During his tenure, Mourinho has also led the Italian club to win the European Conference League in 2021/2022 and wants to continue presenting the title.
