World Boxing: Challenge Stephen Fulton, Naoya Inoue Aims To Win In Four Different Classes

JAKARTA The world boxing match for the super bantamweight title (59 kg) between defending champions from Japan, Naoya The Monster Inour against challengers from the US, Stephen Fulton will be held at the Ariake Arena, Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. The match is for the WBC and WBO versions of the championship belts, both controlled by Fulton.

The match will be a duel between two unbeaten boxers. Inoue (30) has a record fight of 24-0-0 (21 KO), while Fulton, nicknamed Cool Boy, is 29 years old with a record match of 21-0 (8 KO).

"I want to enjoy the match later without a burden, fight cleverly and come out victorious," Fulton said at a press conference held in Yokohama on Saturday, July 22, as quoted by Fightnews.

In another corner, Inoue, a former super lightweight world champion (52.2 kg) and a true bantam (53.5 kg), and removing his championship belt to climb to the super bantam (55.3 kg) also expressed his determination to win the world title in three different classes.

"This time I'm a challenger, and it gives me great motivation. I know Fulton is the best in his current class, but I want to prove that it's better than him," said Inoue.

In the Fulton vs Inoue match, Indonesian boxer Hebi Marapu will appear in additional parties. The boxer from Sumba will challenge the host boxer, Taiga Imanaga in a match in the lightweight (61.2 kg) throughout 8 rounds.
