Deadly Accident At Spa-Francorchamps Circuit Boosts Dutch Young Racer Dilano Van 't Hoff

JAKARTA - The Dutch racer, Dilano van 't Hoff, died after an accident in the European Regional Formula Championship race. The 18-year-old MP Motorsport racer fell in the second series which took place at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

"We would like to express our sincere condolences to our family, team and friends," the organizers said in an official statement.

"Royal Automobile Club of Belgium, Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps and SRO Motorsports Group join Alpine and ACI in expressing sincere condolences to the family, team, and driver friends," the statement continued.

The main GT race organizer, Spa 24 Hours, said all entertainment activities had been canceled. Then there will be one minute of silence before the start of the race in honor of Dilano's memory.

Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali said on Twitter, "We are very sad to know the death of Dilano van 't Hoff today at Spa-Francorchamps."

"Dilano died in pursuing his dream of reaching the top of the motorsport. Together with the entire motorcyclesport community, our attention is with his family and loved ones," continued Domenicali.

The McLaren team also expressed their condolences. "The McLaren Racing Team was very sad to hear the death of Dilano van 't Hoff in the Regional Formula race at Spa-Francorchamps today. Our prayers are with his family, friends, and the entire MP Motorsport team at this difficult time," McLaren wrote.

The European Regional Formula Championships by Alpine is a European Formula Three racing series that is intended as a stepping stone to the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
