JAKARTA - Luciano Spalletti will leave the Napoli coach's seat after successfully bringing the team to the inaugural Serie A or Scudetto title in the last 33 years.
Napoli president Aurelio De Ruzis said the 64-year-old, who took over from Partenopei in 2021, had requested a long leave and would leave the club on the remainder of a one-year contract.
"He's a free person now, it's true that he did what he wanted. I thank him," De Laughs as reported by Sky Italia.
Napoli won their first title since 1990, when Diego Maradona brought the Scudetto title, with five games remaining.
Spalletti's last game as coach will be played at San Paolo against Sampdoria.
Currently, Napoli is looking for a replacement for Spalletti. Reports in Italy said Napoli would try to bring in former Barcelona head coach and Spanish national team Luis Enrique.
Apart from Spalletti, Napoli may also lose their star players. The team's top scorer Victor Osimhen and centre-back Kim Min-jae are likely to leave this summer.
A number of English Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in the two.
