Indonesian U-22 National Team Midfielder Hopes There Are Regional Boys Who Can Follow In Their Footsteps

JAKARTA - The name Muhammad Taufany Muslihuddin became one of the centers of attention behind the success of the Indonesian U-22 national team in winning the 2023 SEA Games gold medal. His performance with the Garuda Squad in Cambodia has been extraordinary.

Taufany became one of the mainstays of coach Indra Sjafri. The 21-year-old player was recorded to have appeared in five matches and was able to contribute one goal and two assists out of a total of 254 minutes of playing.

Now, he is a new idol in national football. Taufany also hopes that many footballers from East Kalimantan, especially Kutai Kartanegara, will follow in his footsteps.

According to him, nothing is impossible if you are ready to work hard.

"Alhamdulillah, all this is thanks to hard training on the field. As well as the trust of the coach that I never wasted when given the trust to play," said Taufany, as quoted from Borneo FC's official website via Antara.

"Competing in a healthy way is very natural. Alhamdulillah, from my club I finally got to the national team. This is not done instantly and I feel the process is very long."

"All dreams can be realized. It just depends on how the struggle is. If you want to excel, you have to practice a lot," he continued.

After his duties with the U-22 Indonesian national team ended, Taufany is now focusing on achieving achievements with Borneo FC in the 2023/2024 Indonesian League 1 competition.

In addition, he said that he also has ambitions to penetrate the Indonesian Senior National Team.

"Still trying to penetrate the senior squad. Now focus on returning to the club also to get achievements," said Taufany.

Regarding his success in winning the 2023 SEA Games gold medal with the U22 Indonesian national team, Taufany said it could not be separated from the training he was actively doing from an early age.
